Solid wood furniture lasts generations — if you treat it right. Our craftsmen share the exact care routine they recommend to every client.

Solid hardwood furniture is an investment. Treated well, it will outlast you. Treated poorly, even the finest piece will deteriorate. Here is the care routine our craftsmen recommend to every client.

The most important rule is simple: keep wood away from extremes. Direct sunlight will fade and dry it. Air conditioning vents will crack it. Sudden changes in humidity will cause it to warp. Position your pieces thoughtfully.

For day-to-day cleaning, a slightly damp cloth is all you need. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Dry immediately. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cloths — they will strip the finish and damage the wood beneath.

Once or twice a year, treat your furniture with a quality wood oil or wax. This replenishes the natural oils in the wood, keeps it supple, and deepens the colour.

If your piece develops a scratch or mark, most surface damage can be repaired at home with fine-grade sandpaper and a touch of matching oil. For deeper damage, bring it to us — we offer a restoration service for all pieces we have made.
